Blade & Soul
Whale since everyone is wanting games to play here's my personal favorite as of late: Blade & Soul
(Plus we can't have you all turning to the dark side a.k.a Tera(hohohoho i kid i kid pls dont kell me)
Anyways, this game isn't similar to Free Realms let me say that. However, the gameplay is very enjoyable. Personally I find the game's storyline to be a rollercoaster that makes you want to scream at your monitor in frustration(this game is probably the closest thing to a soap opera)I also like the stories they give to everything(factions, characters, locations)
About The Game
This game is completely free to play, in fact they have a currency exchange system so you can sell your gold for something called "Hongmoon Coins" and buy cash shop items.
This game has 4 races:
Jin-Human
Gon-Taller human(also on the more sexual side)
Lyn-Animalike children(Almost like Tera's Elin but their models look better)
Yun-Elegant version of Jin and female only
This game has 8 current classes(soon to be 9):
Kung Fu Master-melee use fists
Blade Master-melee use two handed sword
Blade Dancer-melee use two handed sword(LYN ONLY)
Force Master-long-ranged use fire & ice damage
Summoner-long-ranged use earth damage and have a cat companion(LYN ONLY)
Assassin-melee use stealth(perm usually)and daggers(JIN ONLY)
Destroyer-melee use a giant axe(GON ONLY)
Warlock-mid-ranged use dark magic(charms, cannons)and summon a demon
Factions
This game has two major factions:
Crimson Legion: By the people, for the people, they follow anarchist beliefs(Their colors are red and black)
Cerulean Order: All about order in the world, follow capitalistic beliefs(Their colors are blue and white)
You get to pick your own faction, you aren't always flagged for pvp and are only flagged once you equip a faction uniform.
There are some minor factions you can fight for as well:
Talus Dominion
Stratus Empire
Tyrian Cult
Skyhaven Resistance
Bamboo Guard
Blackram
Gameplay
Blade & Soul uses a combat system similar to Tera. You can play like that (i.e moving your mouse around and being "in the action")or you can go to classic mode a.k.a WoW style, or if you choose you can play with a controller.
So I haven't seen this in many other MMOs but in Blade & Soul you actually have to do the side quests if you really want to follow the story as they give more background information, it's quite interesting imo.
Something about Blade and Soul...it really puts the "Massively Multiplayer" in "Massively Multiplayer Online. I mean this because one you get to ~level 20 you get to do your first dungeon which you literally cannot solo. Then we move on up to level 45 that's when you'll go to areas filled with other players to take down these insane bosses who have a very good chance of one shotting you. c:
Also something I really like about blade and soul is: Clothes are purely cosmetic and provide no additional stats. Basically, you are given a weapon and you upgrade that(along with a ring, necklace, earing, belt, bracelet)to increase your stats.(Oh and there's something called a Soul Shield that also provides a large chunk of your stats.)
Some things to note about Blade & Soul:
-It does not have mounts, there's really no need since you can windstride and basically speed run everywhere(OH YOU CAN ALSO CLIMB UP EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME, HOW COOL IS THAT?!)
-There is a subscription option but it is not needed to have enjoyable gameplay as it provides only a few benefits
-It's a Korean game to NA is behind
Information
Blade & Soul's website can be found here.
If you do decide to play, come to server Juwol(NA)so you can play with Winter, Dawn, Tech, me and others.
